There are some important reasons to consider buying your timeshare on the resale market, and in this article we’ll be covering the main considerations of timeshare resale.
Price
Developers have to spend a large amount of money to drive prospects in to their locations so that they can sell them a timeshare. It is estimated that about 50 percent of the cost for retail timeshares are because of this.
The gifts and free or cheap trips cost a lot of money and you’ll end up paying those costs with the price of buying a timeshare. When that same property is sold on the resale market, they are going to be significantly cheaper. When buying a resale you’ll pay a price closer to the true value of the ownership.
Buy on Your Own Terms
When you skip the presentatins and buy resale, you can do so in your own home, in a relaxed setting. Would you rather buy your vacation ownership relaxing on your couch with a laptop or to be at a closing table being hammered to buy an ownership that you may or may not want? Being bombarded with a high pressure sales pitch doesn’t sound like that vacation experience that you are looking for.
Options
Being able to look at all the options of each property and judging, in your own time, is always going to be a better fit for you. At presentations you are presented with limited options of what you can buy. The sales reps will only be able to sell you units that are at the location you tour. When buying resale, you can buy based on brand or the amenities that you are looking for. There are thousands of options and locations, it takes time and research to find something that fits your family’s needs rather than 3 hours in a high pressure sales pitch.
