Some developers refuse to sell one of the 52 weeks for each unit, in order to use the time for renovations or repairs for the unit.
This maintenance week isn’t necessarily the 52nd week, and almost never is, seeing as that’s New Year’s week and usually has a high volume for travel. The maintenance week is usually selected from the least desirable week, or when dealing with points or floating weeks ownerships, maintenance week will be the one week that no one reserves throughout the year.
Some clubs don’t have a maintenance week, but many popular clubs still utilize this week to ensure the unit is kept in a state worthy of your vacation club. You can read more about maintenance fees by reading our “What are maintenance fees?” page.
