One of the greatest gifts of all is the gift of new horizons, novel experiences, and stories that last a lifetime. What better way, for an HGVC timeshare owner, to bestow these qualities upon their closest of family and friends than to book a guest reservation for them? Thankfully, Hilton is one of the best timeshares to own in this situation, but how do you go about this? What fees are involved? And what are some of the limitations of this feature of Hilton timeshares? In this article, we’ll cover all the bases of this often-used benefit.
How To Get Started with Guest Reservations
Booking a reservation for your guest is as simple as creating any other reservation. You can choose to book online, or calling the reservations hotline and booking over the phone. If you have a special request or need to gather some added information before you book, calling the HGVC reservations number will be your best bet for getting your specific needs taken care of. The Hilton booking representatives are known to have a bevy of resort information at their fingertips, and can help you plan your vacation with a personal touch.
If the reservation is made online, you can simply add the name to the reservation at the time of booking, or if you miss that step, you can always call in after to add the guest’s name to your reservation.
Fees for Guest Certificates
We’ve added a simple chart below to show you the fees involved in reservation confirmations. Keep in mind, HGVC defines a guest as any party who is not on your deed. Due to the fact that there is a per-reservation fee for guest certificates, you may consider placing close family members on your deed to forego paying these fees. Especially if you’ll be booking reservations for that person frequently.
Reservation Detail |
2018 Price |
---|---|
Home Week | Complimentary |
Guest Certificate | $49.00 |
Open Season Cash | Not Available |
Some owners have pointed out that this approach should be taken with a touch of caution, as it does create a certain degree of liability for co-owners. If the maintenance fees were to ever go unpaid, all parties listed on the deed can be liable. You can decide for yourself if this would ever be an issue, as many owners don’t see a future where their maintenance fees will go unpaid, but it’s worth mentioning.
Limitations of Guest Reservations
As an HGVC owner, you can book any home season reservation, or club season reservation you’d like for your guest. One limitation of guest certificates is that open season reservations can not be utilized for guests, so you will be unable to place a guest’s name on these types of reservations. You can learn more about the distinction between these types of reservations by reading our article entitled “The Different Types of Hilton Timeshare Reservations”.
Exceptions to Paying the Fee
One noteworthy exception would be in the scenario where the owner is traveling with their guests, and is there to check-in with them. In this case, there is no fee to add names to the reservation.
Also, if you are booking your home week (the exact resort, season, and unit size listed on your deed), you won’t be required to pay for a guest certificate when adding your guest’s name to the reservation.
These exceptions are subject to change in the future, but as of the writing of this article, these situations are the only ways you can get around paying for a guest certificate.
